Kimura Performance Sim Racing Team Score First Points at 2022 ROKiT British F4 Esports Championship!

Kimura Performance Sim Racing Team score their first points of the season in the latest round of the 2022 ROKiT British F4 Esports Championship.

Friday (21st October) saw Races 3 & 4 at Oulton Park for Round 2 of the Championship, sponsored by Base Performance Simulators. With Kimura Performance going into the round pointless from Round 1 of the Championship, hopes were high when both drivers qualified in the Top 10 in Qualifying.

Unfortunately, a collision on the first lap forced Matt Caruana to retire and Ryan Micallef being forced off the track and back a few places. Ryan battled hard to recover and score our first points of the season finishing 9th

Race 2 – the Reverse Grid race (P5-10 in first race randomly selected to start on Pole), didn’t fall kindly on Ryan, meaning he started 9th and Matt was at the back of the pack starting.

Both drivers had the drives of their lives, both securing points! Matt finished 7th and Ryan finishing 9th. Unfortunately, Matt was punished by a penalty for an incident on the final corner and was placed 10th. This did promote Ryan to finish 8th

Kimura Performance Sim Racing Team Manager, Rich Wharton, said Post Race; “I am delighted for the Team to secure points when the odds and the luck were against us on the day! Both Matt & Ryan drove incredibly well, in some tricky circumstances, and with some very interesting driving coming from other drivers around them. It is now a building block for us to push on in the next Round.”

Rich Wharton also added; “We would like to thank our Sponsors, Alkaline Wellness Solutions Ltd, for their valued support for the team.”

The next round will be Live on RaceSpot TV on Friday 4th November at Knockhill. Kimura Performance are now positioned 8th out of 12, but with only 20 points separating 4th to 10th there is plenty to play for.

Ryan Micallef is ranked 15th out of the 35 Registered Drivers and Matt Caruana is joint 18th

Unfortunately, post race, Matt Caruana was given 3 Racing Licence Points following the incident that occurred in the first Race. When a Driver receives 4 Licence Points they will be Excluded from Qualifying.
